Join Gillian Fisher and Michael Chance as they get straight to the soul of Pergolesi's glorious 'Stabat mater', whose opening bars were described (in 1754) as being 'the most perfect and most touching to have come from the pen of any musician'. This seminal album was hailed by Gramophone and being 'so greatly superior to all previous recordings of Pergolesi's deathbed 'Stabat mater' as to put the others completely out of the running' .
