The physical debut of all-new material from the legendary Dr. Demento paired with newly restored and remastered material from 1980 that's been unavailable and out of print for decades. Pressed on limited edition colored 12-inch vinyl exclusive to RSD.GET DEMENTED WITH DR. DEMENTO!Dr. Demento unleashes “Get Demented,” a wild new single that revives the spirit of classic novelty music with a Dr. Seuss-inspired visual style and a wink of pure comic genius. The legendary Dr. Demento is back to stir up a new wave of madness with his all-new single “Get Demented." The world’s most beloved purveyor of mad music and crazy comedy takes the mic himself, leading this wild new original track backed by nerd-rock outfit the Amoeba People. Written especially for Dr. Demento, the song carries forward the tradition of classic novelty music while bringing in sharp, modern themes that fit perfectly in today’s unpredictable times.Visually, the single’s cover art is just as outrageous as the title track itself. The stunning new Dr. Seuss-inspired cover art was illustrated by Joe Simko, the celebrated lead artist behind Topps’ Garbage Pail Kids and Wacky Packages, with concept and art direction by John Cafiero of Osaka Popstar and Demented Punk. The result blends two unmistakable pop-culture icons, Dr. Seuss and Dr. Demento, into one unforgettable image that captures the gleeful absurdity of the moment. The new single makes its physical debut with this RSD exclusive release on limited edition 12-inch colored vinyl—also featuring Dr. Demento’s long out of print cover version of the novelty classic “Shaving Cream” on the flip side! Originally released in 1980, Demento’s rendition of “Shaving Cream has been digitally restored and newly remastered in 24 bit from the analog source to be made available once again for the first time in decades! For more than fifty years, Dr. Demento has been the authority on musical mischief, championing novelty hits and discovering new voices in the art of the absurd. His long-running syndicated radio show, (still available to stream exclusively at DrDemento.com), created an entire genre of comedy music and launched the career of “Weird Al” Yankovic. His influence has earned him honors in the Comedy Music Hall of Fame, the National Radio Hall of Fame, and even a cameo on The Simpsons. With “Get Demented,” Dr. Demento proves he’s still leading the charge for weirdness in all its forms. It’s a reminder that laughter, satire, and a good hook never go out of style.
