Evolution of Dub Vol. 5: The Missing Link is a genre-defining dub compilation album centered on the pioneering work of The Revolutionaries, with additional contributions from Sir Coxsone Sound. Released in 2010 as a 4xCD box set by Greensleeves, it uncovers rare 1970s recordings produced by Ossie, including the elusive Crueshal Dub and Earthquake Dub LPs, totaling over two hours of instrumental reggae innovation that bridges early dub experimentation with more evolved techniques still rooted in the mid-1970s sound. This collection highlights The Revolutionaries' mastery of dub's core elements—heavy basslines, echoing effects, and rhythmic deconstruction—showcasing their role as foundational architects of the genre alongside Sir Coxsone's vibrant sound system vibes. Spanning four discs, it compiles previously scarce material that fills critical gaps in dub history, emphasizing raw energy and studio creativity from Jamaica's golden era, making it essential for enthusiasts tracing the evolution from roots reggae to sophisticated dubwise production.
