Returning Home: The Music of Marnie Weber is a neo-goth art-pop album that collects highlights from the long career of acclaimed Los Angeles multidisciplinary artist and musician Marnie Weber. Released in 2026, it steers between kankyo ongaku pop songs, noise-rock, and haunted fairytale darkness, blending her dark, punk-infused humor with fearless eccentric feminine power archetypes, gut-punch viscerality, and a strange beauty. The genre draws from neo-gothic fairytales that waver between happiness and sadness, amusement and tragedy, attraction and repulsion, while reaching new scales through sentimentality and romance at its root.Weber's journey began with gigs paid in beer at an LA trucker bar, leading to her band Party Boys performing at legendary venues like Al’s Bar alongside icons such as L7, Beck, Sonic Youth, Nirvana, and The Fall. Her wild multimedia works dwell on the ghostly and monstrous, evoking fairy tales gone awry, as praised by outlets like Village Voice, The White Review, BOMB, and LA Times. This LP captures her storied evolution from a 19-year-old leaving home to a pivotal figure in underground music scenes frequented by luminaries including Bret Easton Ellis and Sean Penn.
